Jaguares XV power past Selknam

Los Jaguares XV powered past Selknam this evenining. The Argentine side were 65-8 winners over the Chilean team in what was a round three clash in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). The win keeps Los Jaguares XV unbeaten after two matches. Selknam now have a 3-1 season record.

Los Jaguares XV were in control throughout. The Argentine side played with great speed. It produced rapid-fire points including an early bonus point. Martín Vaca was the first to score. The hooker’s try came in just the 5th minute of play. Additional first half tries saw the Glasgow Warriors bound Sebastián Cancelliere over as well as winger Juan Pablo Castro, and back-rowers Juan Martín González and Joaquín Oviedo. González was a standout performer.

Selknam’s first half points were restricted to a penalty. Santiago Videla got Selknam on to the board in the 23rd minute. Los Jaguares XV went into half time with the result clear and a 37-3 lead.

Selknam’s one try of the contest came early in the second half. Maximiliano Filizzola dived over to score from fullback. Los Jaguares XV scored three further tries to win comfortably and collect the full five competition points.

Los Jaguares XV now turn their attention to the Olímpia Lions and Selknam do so to Peñarol. Both the Olímpia Lions and Peñarol were winners in round two. Round four will be played on Tuesday, March 30.
