ARN Player of the Week – Gabby Cantorna

We are now just a few days removed the start of the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby season, and not far behind the Major League Rugby campaign. This will bring about a return of our Team of the Week, of in the case of SLAR Team of the Round. It also means a significant rise in potential candidates for Player of the Week. If this past week is anything to go by, selection will be very difficult indeed.

Over in France there were two tries from Germán Kessler against Provence, and two more from Rodrigo Bruni opposite Mont-de-Marsan. Marcos Kremer crossed the line for Stade Français against Agen, and Benjamín Urdapilleta continues to shine for Castres.

AJ MacGinty was in ‘fine fettle‘ for Sale Sharks, and both try-scorer Santiago Socino with Gloucester and Man-of-the-Match Matías Moroni with Leicester deserved consideration. Even more so was a superb hat trick from McKinley Hunt against Wasps that in virtually any other week would have been enough.

She is edged out, however, by her clubmate Gabby Cantorna. Honorable mention on several occasions this season, the inside center cannot be denied this time after kicking Exeter to a stunning road victory at Twyford Avenue. Cantorna’s try-saving tackle on full-time preserves Exeter’s 7th consecutive win.
