Germán Kessler double gives Charente crucial victory

Germán Kessler was the hero for Charente. The Uruguayan hooker scored a double in the team’s 21-19 away victory over Aix-en-Province. The result was a crucail victory. Charente are playing for their survival in the Pro D2. The team remain bottom, though are now just one point behind Valence Romans.

Kessler was a super-sub for Charente. He entered the match in the 51st minute. His two tries were scored in the 59th and 79th minutes. His first time was a pick-and-go from two meters out. He went low and had the strength to score desite being tackled by two players.

The Uruguayan’s second try gave Charente the win with the clock winding down. Like the first, it was the result of team pressure on the opposition try line. Kessler again went low to power his way over.

Charente will play at home next weekend. Their round 23 opponents will be Béziers. Charente will be aiming for a win against the 9th placed Béziers.
