Roos and Beauchamp to lead SaberCats in 2021

De Wet Roos and Luke Beauchamp have been named co-captains of the Houston SaberCats for the upcoming Major League Rugby season. It’s a minor diversion from the 2020 season when Roos was sole captain with Diego Magno vice-captain.

Though Roos was born in South Africa, both players are products of Australian rugby and played opposite each other in the National Rugby Championship. Beauchamp previously captained GPS in the Queensland Premier Division and the flanker skippered the SaberCats against the Toronto Arrows in 2019.

Roos led the team from his scrumhalf position in all five matches during the 2020 campaign, his first with the team. The SaberCats open their preseason against the NOLA Gold in Houston this coming Saturday.
