Having initially been out of the roster, Danny Giraldo is now in. The Colombian has been confirmed as one of 30 players to travel to Chile for the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). The 2021 season will begin in Santiago on Wednesday, March 16.
Giraldo is a big inclusion for Los Cafeteros Pro. It is also a late inclusion. He was initially missing from the roster. This was due to him having undergone surgery in December. However, he will in fact be on the plane to Santiago.
Standing at 2.02m (6’7″) tall, Giraldo has the size sought after for his position. His involvement in SLAR this year will be his second. He signed for Peñarol for the 2020 season. He did so after having played against the Uruguay XV in Montevideo in 2019. The Uruguay XV were 38-24 winners though Colombia put up a solid showing.
Giraldo was one of three Colombians at Peñarol last year. The other two were Giovanni Carvajal, and Diver Ceballos. Giraldo and Ceballos are on the 30-man Cafeteros Pro roster to travel to Chile.
