Taylor Paris signs Oyonnax extension

Canadian international Taylor Paris has signed a new contract with Pro D2 club Oyonnax that will keep him in the east of France through the 2022-23 season. The 28-year-old winger had previously signed a one-year deal after departing Castres in July 2020.

Paris has made an immediate impact at Oyonnax, his fourth professional club and third in France. To date he has started 16 of the club’s 20 games in the 2020-21 season, scoring four tries. In December he was nominated as the club’s best recruit of the new season in an official Pro D2 fan vote.

Other Canadians in the Pro D2 include Biarritz lock Evan Olmstead, Montauban flanker Matt Beukeboom, and Rouen flyhalf Shane O’Leary. In the Top 14, Castres feature prop Matt Tierney and No8 Tyler Ardron, with scrumhalf Will Percillier at Stade Français. Flyhalf Peter Nelson plays for Nationale club Bressane.
