Jasa Veremalua re-signs with San Diego Legion

Jasa Veremalua has re-signed with the San Diego Legion for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The former Fiji Sevens star had initially been out of contract but will now play a third season for the club, which will temporarily move its operations to Las Vegas.

Since arriving from the World Sevens Series ahead of the 2019 campaign Veremalua has been a valuable member of the Legion. Originally signed as an outside back, he made a successful shift to the forwards. The 32-year-old started all five games in 2020 in the No6 shirt.

Veremalua has also spent time at lock and it could be in the second row where he is employed in 2021 with the departure of Joshua Furno to Biarritz for at least the opening months of the season. Specialist locks Siaosi Mahoni and Ben Mitchell remain while Keni Nasoqeqe and Tevita Tameilau are also capable of covering if needed.
