Chile travel to Spain for Madrid 7’s

Chile’s Men’s 7’s team are on their way to Spain. Los Cóndores 7’s will compete in this coming weekend’s Madrid 7’s tournament. It is the second of two competitors in the Spanish capital this month. Argentina were champions of the first edition of the men’s tournament.

The Chileans are preparing for their all-important Olympic qualifiers. They will compete in the repechage tournament in Monaco in June. That tournament will finalize the participants for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Head Coach Edmundo Olfos has named a number of new faces. He has done so with Selknam players preparing for the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). His roster members are players from Chile’s high performance centers. One of them, Nicolás Navarrete Icka, is from Easter Island. He was a basketball player who now plays rugby. He is now a Chilean Pacific Islander rugby player.
