Facundo Isa named Man of the Match as Toulon down Pau

Facundo Isa was named man of the match on Saturday. The Puma scored two tries in a rampaging performance for Toulon against Pau. Toulon were 33-29 winners in what was an away fixture.

Isa started for Toulon at N8. Fellow Puma Ramiro Moyano also started for Toulon, doing so on the right wing. Moyano had an active match, assisting Isa in one of his tries. Isa’s tries were scored in the 46th and 62nd minutes.

His first try was a pick-and-go. The carry was from a meter out. He went low to make it very hard for Pau to defend against.

His second try involved a lot more running. The team try was finished by Isa who got the assist from Pumas teammate Ramiro Moyano. Isa was well-positioned to finish off the job. He prepared himself for contact meters from the try line. But, with the defender misjudging his tackle, Isa was able to cross the line and score easily.

In addition to scoring tries, Isa put in a very impressive performance in general; his ball-carrying was of particular note. The same applies to fellow Argentine N8 Rodrigo Bruni. He was also a try scorer this weekend in France.

Also involved in the match was Ignacio Calles. The uncapped Argentine started at loose head prop. Calles has been busy for Pau since returning from the Tri Nations. His regular game time is an indication of his progress.

Toulon presently sit in 6th position of the Top 14. Saturday’s win over Pau follows two losses over the previous rounds. The club is now just two points behind Bordeaux and three points behind Clermont.
