Argentina impress on day one of Madrid Sevens

Argentina impresso on Day One of the Madrid Sevens. Los Pumas 7’s won 40-12 against Spain and 24-17 against the USA on the opening day of the competition.

Joaquín de la Vega was the star against Spain. The former u20 fly half scored a hat-trick. Franco Sábato and Marcos Moneta both crossed for one try each. Veteran Gastón Revol slotted five conversions. Los Pumas 7’s were in control of the match throughout.

Game two was very different. Los Pumas 7’s and the USA Eagles competed in a tough contest. The scores were locked at 5-5 at half time. Second half tries to Moneta, Germán Schulz and Lucio Cinti saw Los Pumas 7’s claiming a lead. The USA hit-back with two of their own but were unable to score a third to level the scores late in the match.
