Tomás Cubelli scores in Western Force debut

Tomás Cubelli scored on his Western Force debut. The Argentine scrum half scored the only try for the Force in their season opener against the Brumbies. The Brumbies were 27-11 winners in the Super Rugby AU fixture.

Cubelli touched down four minutes from full time. He did so after having entered the match as a replacement. It saw history being made as he became the first Argentine to play for and to score tries for two Australian Super Rugby teams. Cubelli was a Brumby from 2016-2017 and a Jaguar from 2018-2020. The Force is his third Super Rugby team.

The Western Force had two additional Pumas in the match. Santiago Medrano started at tight head prop and Tomás Lezana started at flanker. The match was the first appearance for both players in a professional team outside of Argentina. They are both former Jaguares.

The Western Force have a bye next round. In round three the Western Force will face the Waratahs in Sydney. The match will take place on March 05 at Bankwest Stadium. The venue is the same in which Argentina defeated New Zealand in the 2020 Tri Nations.
