Benetton sign Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro from Bristol Bears

Days after signing two Argentine props Benetton have signed a third. Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro have signed to play for the Treviso-based side from the Bristol Bears. The contract is a long-term deal. It runs until June 30, 2024.

It marks a return to the Pro 14 for the 31-year-old. He previously played for Welsh region the Dragons in 2013-2014. The experienced prop has also previously played for Lyon and Stade Français in the Top 14 and was a Jaguar from 2016-2020.

The Bristol Bears have contracted Tetaz Chaparro on a short-term deal as a medical joker. His contract is for the 2020-2021 season. He joined the team in January and debuted in February. He is presently sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Tetaz Chaparro is from General Madariaga. He is a product of Bigua rugby in Mar del Plata. He joins Benetton with 62 test caps. The latest of these was in the Tri Nations. He started at loose head prop in three of the four matches in the competition. They were both draws against Australia and the historic win over New Zealand.

A versatile prop, Tetaz Chaparro was on the RWC 2015 roster as a tight head prop and on the RWC 2019 roster as a tight head prop. Benetton is presently home to five Argentine players. Juan Ignacio Brex made his test debut for Italy against France and earned his second cap against England. Props Thomas Gallo and Ivan Nemer are also eligible for Italy. Like Brex, they qualify via family ancestry. Brex is linked to a move to France next season.
