Lucas Paulos scored his first try for Brive. The Argentine second-rower touched down under the posts in the 25th minute. His try was one of two for the match for Brive. Opponents Bayonne also scored twice. The Basques were 26-23 winners.
The match was a nail-bitter. Bayonne ended the game with 14 men. Former Puma Mariano Galarza was yellow carded in the 79th minute. He started opposite Paulos in a Pumas match-up in the second-row.
Paulos joined Brive in December. He did so following the 2020 Tri Nations. He made his test debut in the tournament. He appeared in two of the four matches for Los Pumas.
His move to Brive has seen him receiving regular game time. Moreover, he has ben playing for a team doing well in a highly competitive league. Brive are in 9th position after 16 rounds of the 2020-2021 Top 14 season.
The victory sees Bayonne moving to within one point of Montpellier. Bayonne is in 12th position. The club is presently in danger of relegation on 22 points, though today’s result eases the pressure.
