Argentina name strong roster for Madrid 7’s

Argentina have named a strong roster for the Madrid 7’s. Santiago Gómez Cora’s roster contains notable names, many of whom are likely to feature in the Tokyo Olympics.

The team is captained by Santiago Álvarez Fourcade. The former Argentina XV player was a fringe player for Los Jaguares and Los Pumas. Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Fernando Luna, Matías Osadczuk and Santiago Mare are additional names that have featured for the Argentina XV.

Germán Schulz is also on the roster. The 27-year-old made his test debut for Argentina against Georgia in Jujuy in 2017. Mor recently, Lucio Cinti was an unused replacement in Argentina’s historic win over New Zealand. Fellow 20-year-old, Ignacio Mendy is also included. The exciting fullback is the son of Christian Mendy, a try scorer in Argentina’s famous win over Australia in 1987.

The Madrid 7’s will consist of two men’s and women’s tournaments. The first stage of the competition will be on February 20-21 and the second on February 27-28. Competing will be six men’s and six women’s teams.

The men’s competition will involve Argentina, France, Kenya, Portugal, Spain, and the USA. The women’s competition will consist of France, Kenya, Poland, Russia, Spain and the USA.
