London Irish sign Facundo Gigena from Leicester Tigers

Facundo Gigena is no longer a Leicester Tiger. However, the Argentine prop will continue playing in the English Premiership. The 26-year-old departs the Leicester Tigers with immediate effect. He does so in a transfer to London Irish. The move will see him playing with Agustín Creevy.

Gigena joined the Leicester Tigers in 2018. It was his first foreign club. He joined the Tigers from Argentina, doing so after having made several Super Rugby appearances for Los Jaguares.

During his time with the Leicester Tigers, Gigena played in 45 matches for the club. His performances caught the eye of Mario Ledesma. The Head Coach of Los Pumas had Gigena on his long-list for international duty.

Gigena is uncapped, though this is not likely to remain the case for very long. Ledesma has only utilized two loose head props for Los Pumas. Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro is his regular starter and Mayco Vivas the replacement. Tetaz Chaparro now plays for the Bristol Bears. Former Pumas loose head Santiago García Botta also plays in the English Premiership. He plays for the Harlequins.
