SaberCats sign Houston native Bronson Teles from Jackals

The destinations of players left in the cold by the Dallas Jackals withdrawal are starting to trickle out. While yet to be officially announced by the club, Head Coach Paul Healy has confirmed on the latest edition of the MLR Kickoff podcast that the SaberCats have acquired free agent Bronson Teles.

A two-time member of the USA’s u20 side, Teles was a standout with the Arizona Wildcats where he earned Collegiate All-American honors and was nominated for the Rudy Scholz Award in 2020. Dallas then selected him in the second round of the inaugural MLR Collegiate Draft.

Teles was born in Denmark but grew up in Richmond, Texas, on the outskirts of Houston. He comes from a rugby family with his father a player in South Africa before eventually settling in the USA. While he has spent time as a lock at age-grade level, the 22-year-old projects as a blindside flanker in MLR.
