Spain have called-up Argentine Facundo Domínguez. The Argentine No8 is one of two uncapped players on the roster to face Portugal on February 7. His call-up comes following his move to Barcelona for the 2020-2021 season.
The 24-year-old is a product of Olivios RC in Buenos Aires. In 2016 he played in the Junior World Championship, playing alonside current Pumas Bautista Delguy, Marcos Kremer, Juan Cruz Mallía, Santiago Medrano, and Domingo Miotti. Peñarol’s Conrado Roura and Selknam’s Bautista Stavile were also on that team.
Domínguez missed the 2017 Junior World Championship after suffering a serious knee injury prior to the tournament.
Barcelona is Domínguez’ second European club. He previously played in England for Ampthill. He did so with fellow Argentine player Serafin Bordoli.
His move to Barcelona caught the attention of Santiago Santos. The Head Coach of Los Leones selected him to face Portugal next month. Domínguez is one of six Argentine players on the roster. He joins Bautista Güemes, Joaquín Domínguez, Juan Pablo Guido, Federico Casteglioni, and Fernando López.
