The Montevideo-based Peñarol have signed Conrado Roura. The Argentine flanker will join the Uruguayan team for the 2021 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) season. He does so after having signed to play Major League Rugby (MLR) for the Dallas Jackals.
The Dallas Jackals decision to delay their MLR debut season meant Roura was a free agent. It also mens that Roura will go from one SLAR country to another. He played for Los Ceibos in the 2020 rookie season. He made one appearance before the season was suspended due the pandemic.
Known for his mobility and handling skills, Roura was a starter for Los Pumitas at the 2016 World Rugby u20 Championship. He then graduated directly to the senior Pumas team on the World Sevens Series, which culminated in selection to the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco.
Roura is a product of Club Palermo Bajo. He started playing rugby for the Córdoba club at the age of 13.
