Selknam sign Maximiliano Filizzola from Argentina Sevens

Selknam have added a fifth Argentine player for the upcoming season. The Chilean Super Liga Americana de Rugby franchise have signed Maximiliano Filizzola from Argentina Sevens.

Maximiliano Filizzola joins the Santiago-based team from the across the border in Mendoza. He is a product of Marista rugby. The 24-year-old is 1.75m (5’9″) tall and weighs 81kg (175lbs).

An experienced player for Los Pumas 7’s, Filizzola was a South American champion in 2019. He has made 26 appearances for his country on the World Sevens circuit.

Selknam will not be Filizzola’s first experience playing abroad. In 2020 he played for the Ayrshire Bulls  in Scotland. From there he returned to Mendoza. In 2021 he will play SLAR for the team across the Andes.

In addition to Filizzola Selknam will have No8 Santiago Portillo as a new Argentine player for 2021. Returning roster members include Ignacio Albornoz, Patricio Boronio, and Bautista Stavile.

The complete Selknam roster will be confirmed over the coming days. Included is a test player returning to Chile from France.
