Gómez Kodela beats Montpellier in his 100th match for Bordeaux

Francisco Gómez Kodela played his 100th match for Lyon today. He did so in a 21-16 away win over Montpellier. The 35-year-old Argentine tighthead has played for Lyon since 2016. He previously played for Biarritz (2011-2014) and Bordeaux (2014-2016). He moved to France from Buenos Aires. He is a product of Belgrano Athletic.

Gómez Kodela started in the win at tight head. He played 64 minutes before being replaced from the bench by French Barbarian Clement Ric. Montpellier had a formidable front-row with RWC players Mikheil Nariashvili (Georgia), Guilhem Guirado (France) and Mohamed Haouas (France) starting.

Montpellier’s line-up contained five additional French test players. Despite playing at home and having a strong team, the hosts all short. It was the 6th consecutive defeat for Montpellier. The poor run of performances sees the club occupying 13th position. Lyon are comfortable in 6th position at present.

Next weekend will be a tough assignment for Montpellier. The team will take-on the 3rd placed Racing 92. Lyon will have home advantage against the 11th placed Pau.
