Austin signs prop Jake Turnbull from Old Glory

The Austin Gilgronis have added another piece to their 2021 Major League Rugby puzzle. Loosehead prop Jake Turnbull has signed on from Old Glory DC. More recently the 27-year-old has been playing in his native Australia with Randwick in the Shute Shield.

Turnbull holds the distinction of having played in two professional rugby competitions in the USA, suiting up for the Denver Stampede in the 2016 PRO Rugby season. He won USA Select XV honors later that year before joining the Houston SaberCats for their first MLR season in 2018.

A shift to DC came in 2020 and this past season saw Turnbull appearing in all fives matches, starting three. He joins returnees Jamie Mackintosh and LaRome White as options in the No1 shirt for the coming season, with tighthead covered by Paddy Ryan, Mason Pedersen, and Brendan Rams.
