ARN Player of the Week – Benjamín Urdapilleta

This past weekend saw limited action with most competitions ground to a halt, no thanks again to the raging pandemic. The Top 14 did manage to fit in some make-up dates from previously postponed matches, and in fact all of our candidates come from France.

In the Pro D2, Biarritz picked up an important road win over Vannes with Canadian lock Evan Olmstead playing all 80 minutes. Argentina’s Segundo Tuculet starred for Valence Romans with over 100 meters gained from fullback in the win over Rouen Normandie. In the Top 14 our focus was with Castres, where Uruguay’s Santiago Arata continued to build his reputation as a top flight scrumhalf.

It was Arata’s Argentine halfback partner Benjamín Urdapilleta who takes home our weekly honors. The veteran flyhalf continues to be an enormously influential player for Castres, with his dependable left boot knocking over 11 points in the 21-19 road win over Montpellier, most notably the the game-winning penalty in the 75th minute.
