ARN Player of the Week – Bautista Delguy

This past weekend provided us with a number of high quality performances by Americas players abroad. At the moment it appears this coming weekend will be significantly less populated as many European competitions have now been suspended, once again a victim of an agitated pandemic.

For a moment we will suspend reality and celebrate those that deserve recognition. Not least was AJ MacGinty, who again directed Sale to victory, this time over Worcester. His Castres counterpart Benjamín Urdapilleta was in good form against Agen, and there were try-scoring efforts from Taylor Paris, Matías Orlando, and Marcos Kremer.

The Premier 15s produced four players who were genuine contenders. Gabby Cantorna and Emily Tuttosi were outstanding for Exeter in their hard-fought triumph over Bristol. The opposition was not as stout for Paige Farries, but her individual performance was first class for Worcester. Courtney Holtkamp was again at the heart of Loughborough’s victory at Hartpury.

Our choice, however, is an Argentine in France who announced himself to the Top 14. Bautista Delguy scored his first two tries for Bordeaux. While they were relatively routine finishes for the dashing winger, his work off the ball was exceptional and UBB now have themselves two proven Puma finishers along with Santiago Cordero.
