Devereaux Ferris moves from San Diego to Seattle

Devereaux Ferris is staying on the West Coast but will be playing his rugby much further north in 2021. The one-time US Eagles scrumhalf has signed for the Seattle Seawolves having played for the San Diego Legion this past season.

Originally from New Zealand, Ferris has been a prominent figure on the California scene since arriving in 2015 and enjoyed a breakout season with the San Francisco Rush in PRO Rugby the following year. The 26-year-old was an extended squad member with San Diego in 2019 and made his Major League Rugby debut in 2020, appearing in four of five games with two starts.

The addition gives Seattle two accomplished scrumhalves with incumbent starter JP Smith set to return for a third campaign. Ferris will be hoping the change of scenery and competition for playing time will put him back in the frame for Eagles selection. He won his only test cap to date against Samoa in 2018.
