Bautista Delguy scores two tries as Bordeaux down Lyon

Bautista Delguy has made a quick impact in France. The Argentine winger scored two tries today for Bordeaux. His team were 31-9 winners over Lyon. The tries were Delguy’s first in the Top 14. Following the 2020 Tri Nations he joined Bordeaux from Los Jaguares.

In his second appearance for Bordeaux, Delguy touched town for two tries. His first try saw him providing a support line to score untouched. He received a pass from Matthieu Jalibert and ran 25 meters to score.

Two minutes later he was in again. He again crossed without being touched. In short, the percentage play of a two on one saw the Pumas flier in for a double.

Delguy was one of three Pumas involved in the match. Guido Petti completed his come back from injury from the bench for Bordeaux. Francisco Gómez Kodela started for Lyon. The trio all started in Argentina’s history win over New Zealand in the 2020 Tri Nations. They also all started in the first draw against Australia. Delguy and Gómez Kodela also started in the second draw which complete the competition.

Today’s win lifts Bordeaux to 6th position in the Top 14. Lyon fall to 8th. The next round of the Top 14 is scheduled for January 30. This may change though, due to the suspension of the European Championship Cup and Challenge Cup matches this month.
