Four further Argentine players join Olímpia Lions

Four further Argentina players have joined the Olímpia Lions. They are to join the eleven players previously attached to the team for the 2021 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) season.

The latest recruits are prop Rodrigo Martínez, flanker Jerónimo Gómez Vara, center Franco Bullentini, and  winger Martín Begado. Martínez has representative honors with the Argentina XV. His inclusion sees the possibility of an all-Argentine front-row for the Olímpia Lions.

Gómez Vara and Bullentini have been recruited from Los Pumitas. Both are promising players. Gómez Vara is a rare athlete in that he comes from Missiones province and played for San Patricio in Corrientes prior to join Atlético del Rosario.

The four join additional Argentine players who will play for the Paraguayan side in the 2021 SLAR season. The Olímpia Lions acquired six Argentine players in the SLAR Draft. They are hooker Axel Zapata, prop Lucas Favre, second-rower Carlos Repetto, flanker Lucas Santa Cruz, scrum-half Ignacio Inchauspe, and fly half Martín Roger.

Also joining the Olímpia Lions is 2020 Ceibos winger Leopoldo Herrera and Joaquín Pellandini. The latter follows fellow scrum-half Ignacio Inchauspe in joining from Los Ceibos.

The club has also re-signed three 2020 Olímpia Lions players. They are N8 Nicolás Proto, fly half Máximo Ledesma, and center Santiago Resino.
