Nicolás Bruzzone becomes Head Coach of Selknam

Nicolás Bruzzone is now the Head Coach of Selknam. The former Argentine 7’s player will be in charge of the Chilean franchise in the 2021 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). Bruzzone replaces Pablo Lemoine who, in 2020, was Head Coach of both Selknam and Chile.

Bruzonne becomes Head Coach of a professional team at the age of just 35. He does so after a long playing career which was followed by coaching. Chile Rugby firmly believe that he is up to the challenge. He was an assistant in 2020.

As a player Bruzzone was a scrum-half. He was a fringe option for Los Pumas, though was never capped. He went on to be a mainstay for Los Pumas 7’s. He broke his country’s all-time appearance record at the 2016 Sydney Sevens. That same year he played for Argentina at the Rio Olympics.

Five of the six franchises in the 2021 SLAR competition are to be Argentine. They are Nicolás Bruzonne (Selknam, CL), Pablo Bouza (Peñarol, UY), Rodolfo Ambrosio (Cafeteros Pro, CO), Raúl Pérez (Olímpia Lions, PY), and the Head Coach of the Argentine franchise. Brazil’s team will be coached by Fernando Portugal.
