Travis Larsen moves from DC to San Diego

Travis Larsen has signed with the San Diego Legion for the 2021 season. The 29-year-old Canada ‘A’ representative will play for his third Major League Rugby club. He lined up for Austin Elite in 2019 before switching to Old Glory DC in 2020.

Larsen is a well-rounded loose forward who is equally comfortable on the side or back of the scrum. He was primarily a ball-carrying No8 for Austin but featured on the blindside flank for DC. In the shortened 2020 campaign he played in all five games, starting four.

The signing adds depth to San Diego’s back row resources with returnees Psalm Wooching, Tevita Tameilau, and Keni Nasoqeqe joined by former England captain Chris Robshaw. Larsen could find himself opposite brother Josh when the Legion take on the New England Free Jacks on June 6 in Weymouth.
