Manuel Nogués to play SLAR for Peñarol

Manuel Nogués is to play Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) for Peñarol. In an interview with El Ciudadano the Argentine scrum-half told Lisandro Olearo of the move.

It will not be his first time playing in Uruguay. Nogués spent 2020 playing for Carrasco Polo with whom he was an Uruguayan club champion. Nogués accepted the offer from Mateo Viñales to play for Carrasco Polo. The players were rivals for their countries at u20’s level.

Nogués had offers to play professionally in Europe and Japan. Instead, he played for Carrasco Polo where he impressed. He is now well-placed to be the starting scrum-half for Peñarol in the 2021 SLAR. The 2020 roster contained three scrum-halves, none of them are presently based in Uruguay.

The 22-year-old is a product of Atlético del Rosario. He played for Argentina at junior level including at the 2018 Junior World Championship.
