ARN Player of the Week – Tomás Carrió

One of our primary sources of inspiration in recent weeks – the Premier 15s – had the weekend off but our eyes remained fixed on Europe. The English Premiership and French Top 14 were both in action, as well as the Copa Ibérica final in Spain.

Two Argentines earned Top 14 Team of the Week honors from Midi Olympique. Facundo Isa was a big carrying presence for Toulon in their win over Clermont. He was again named on the flank with Sergio Parisse at No8. Meanwhile Brive’s Axel Müller demanded inclusion as one of two wingers along with Toulon hat-trick hero Gabin Villière.

Our selection this week is in Ibérica champion for a second time. Tomás Carrió was primarily considered a fullback when playing for the Argentina XV but it’s at flyhalf where he has excelled with VRAC. He led the club to a 19-13 win over Portuguese club Os Belenenses on Sunday. Carrió kicked 14 points including the match-winning penalties in the second half.
