Pablo Bouza is to remain in charge of Peñarol in the 2021 Súper Liga Americana de rugby (SLAR). The former Puma was Peñarol Head Coach in 2020. The season was cut short due to the global pandemic.
Peñarol played two matches in 2020. First, the Uruguayan side was 45-14 winners over Corinthians in a SLA warm-up match. Second, Peñarol all to a 15-13 defeat against Selknam. Both matches were played at Montevideo’s Estadio Charrúa.
Bouza joined Peñarol from Argentina. He took six years of coaching experience in Argentina’s High Performance (PladAR) with him. Bouza was a prominent member of the Daniel Hourcade coaching regime. He was an assistant until 2018. He remains on for the initial period under Mario Ledesma as lineout assistant.
Prior to coaching Bouza was a Puma. He joined Ledesma at RWC 2003. In total he earned 37 caps from 1996-2007. At RWC 2003 he played against Namibia, and Romania scoring four tries. He also had several years as a professional player. He played in England for the Harlequins and Leeds Carnegie from 2005-2008.
