Happy Holidays from ARN!

The year that none of us expected is nearly at a close. Like most, consider us at Americas Rugby News relieved! To go without any rugby at all to cover for several months was a challenge unlike any other we have experienced, and though there are yet hurdles to clear in the coming months there now appears to be light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

While a pandemic could never be considered ‘timely’ in its arrival, it was particularly frustrating given the tremendous start of the 2020 Major League Rugby season and the first go at professionalism in South America. Thankfully both MLR and SLAR have emerged relatively unscathed and are set to build on that momentum in 2021.

Like most, our numbers declined dramatically beginning in late March. We did maintain a loyal readership throughout the uncertain mid-year, and we can happily report that things are very much on an upwards trajectory again with 2021 poised to be our biggest yet.

There is much to look forward to on the pitch – the return of MLR and SLAR, RWC 2023 qualifiers, the Tokyo Olympics, and of course Rugby World Cup 2021. With luck all of them will come to fruition, and by the second half of the year we hope to see a return to something approaching normal.

What exactly is in store here at ARN we can’t say, but one significant new exclusive feature will be coming online in the first quarter of the New Year. Until then you can expect our usual coverage with maybe a few fun articles sprinkled in over this richly-deserved holiday break.

From the editors and on behalf of everyone who contributed to ARN’s sixth year of being, a sincere thank you for continuing to read our rugby ramblings. Your ongoing support is truly humbling.

That’s it for us today! Look for a glimpse into the future coming tomorrow. We wish you all the best over the holiday season. Farewell 2020, roll on 2021!
