Mike Shepherd will play a fourth Major League Rugby season with the Seattle Seawolves. The 31-year-old hooker has extended his stay with the two-time champions, becoming the 13th player to renew during the off-season and third front rower.
Injuries have disrupted Shepherd’s involvement with the team during his the first two MLR campaigns. He featured in nine matches, starting just once during that time. This past season however saw Shepherd appear in all five matches, starting three, and scoring his first professional try against Utah.
The Seawolves should again have three hooker options for the 2021 season with regular starter Stephan Coetzee expected to follow Shepherd in returning. Vili Toluta’u continued his shift towards the front row during both the regular season and the recent World Tens Series event in Bermuda.
