Austin lock Luca Tani signs for LA

Luca Tani will trade one cocktail for another as the Austin Gilgronis lock has signed for the LA Giltinis. The 25-year-old from Santa Cruz returns to his home state for the 2021 Major League Rugby season.

A late addition to the AG’s roster in 2020 from San Francisco Golden Gate, Tani made his professional debut as a replacement against Utah in February and would play three matches before the season was suspended. More recently he lined up for the Miami Sun at the World Tens Series event in Bermuda.

Tani makes it four second row specialists now confirmed by LA for their inaugural campaign. The other options all hail from Australia – ex-Waratahs captain Dave Dennis, ex-Randwick captain Nathan Den Hoedt, and ex-Raptors captain Luke White. Corey Thomas, another Australian arriving via Japan, covers both lock and loose forward.
