Houston returns for back row duo Magno and Booysen

The Houston SaberCats have confirmed the return of two international back rowers for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. Uruguay’s Diego Magno and Namibia’s Adriaan Booysen follow previously announced Luke Beauchamp and Cecil Garber in committing to another year in Texas.

This will be the third MLR campaign for Magno. The 31-year-old is the all-time leading cap winner for Los Teros. He acted as pack leader and vice-captain for the SaberCats in 2020, starting four of five games. While also capable of playing lock, Magno featured exclusively in the back row this past season.

Booysen, 24, proved an inspired addition for the SaberCats in his first MLR season. The powerful ball-carrying No8 played all five games, starting four, and scored a try in the victorious season opener against the Colorado Raptors. He should feature at the back of the scrum again for Houston in 2021.
