Ruben de Haas will start for the Cheetahs opposite the Pumas on Friday evening. It’s the first career start in the Currie Cup for the 22-year-old US Eagles scrumhalf. He only recently debuted for the Cheetahs senior side in Super Rugby Unlocked.
It’s just rewards for de Haas, who has impressed coming off the bench in five matches for the Cheetahs since the re-start. He scored his first Super Rugby try against Griquas last month and grabbed his first Currie Cup score this past weekend against the Lions.

Partnering de Haas in the halfbacks will be World Cup winner Francois Steyn, who is given a rare start in the No10 shirt with most of his recent rugby coming at inside center. New England Free Jacks signing Erich de Jager is a reserve prop for the match at Mbombela Stadium.
