Top Canadian prospect Will Percillier earned another first on Friday evening in Paris. The 21-year-old made his first senior start for Stade Français, playing all 80 minutes against Benetton Treviso in the opening round of the European Challenge Cup competition.
Though the Italian visitors – coached by former Canada supremo Kieran Crowley – ultimately left with the victory, Percillier earned valuable experience and showed crisp passing that led directly to Stade’s first try of the game scored by Charlie Francoz. Percillier even played the final quarter at flyhalf with the home side opting to name three scrumhalves in the match day squad with no specialist No10.
It’s the third notable achievement in Percillier’s young career as a professional this season. He made his Top 14 bow as a replacement against Toulouse last month, scoring a try on debut with his first touch of the ball late in the game.
