As we reach the end of the highly unusual year, the last remnants of international rugby in 2020 took place in the form of the Sudamérica Sevens in Valparaiso and the Golden Eagles Showdown in Chula Vista. Brazil’s team effort was notable with the Sancery twins playing a strong part. In California it was Martin Iosefo who cemented his status as player of the intra-squad series.
Uruguay’s top club competition ended with Carrasco Polo as champions, with Santiago Hernández and Nicolás Freitas showing well. Meanwhile fellow Teros international German Kessler was a try-scorer for Charente against Aurillac in France. Pumas flyers Santiago Cordero and Ramiro Moyano each touched down in the Champions Cup.
Again, however, we turn our attention the Premier 15s. Loughborough clashed with Exeter in a game that featured an impressive nine North American players, with all coming away from the match with their stock up. McKinley Hunt was a try-scorer for the visitors with DaLeaka Menin and Sara Svoboda in top form for the home side.
Both Menin, who was last week’s select, and Svoboda were worthy of consideration for the top spot but our choice matches that of the official selection. Courtney Holtkamp was in outstanding form in the Lightning second row, producing a dominant all-around performance that earns the young Canadian star ARN Player of the Week honors.
