Canadian flanker Nakai Penny extends Seattle stay

Canadian international Nakai Penny has extended his stay in Seattle for a fourth season. The openside flanker signs on for the 2021 Major League Rugby campaign, joining countrymen Djustice Sears-Duru, George Barton, and Brock Staller in re-committing to the two-time champion Seawolves.

Penny was in top form when the 2020 season was abruptly ended due to the pandemic. The 24-year-old started all five games and produced a superb two-try effort against the Free Jacks in Round 4. He has now played 22 games for the Seawolves since making his competitive debut against NOLA in May 2018.

Despite his strong showings with Seattle, Penny has been unable to crack Canada’s starting lineup to date and was overlooked for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. His three test caps to date were all as a replacement during the 2019 Americas Rugby Championship.
