Austin confirms arrival of Canadian lock Reegan O’Gorman

The Austin Gilgronis have announced the signing of Canadian lock Reegan O’Gorman for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. It’s a confirmation long expected, with the 24-year-old making the move to Texas from New Zealand where has spent the past several seasons.

O’Gorman was a standout at u20 level for Canada before earning four caps during the 2017 Americas Rugby Championship. He had suited up for Christchurch club Marist Albion beginning in 2015, and made the jump to provincial level with South Canterbury in 2018. In 2019 O’Gorman was honored with selection to the Heartland Championship XV.

Injuries have limited O’Gorman’s availability over the past years and likely cost him a spot at the Rugby World Cup in Japan. The 6’6″ (1.98m) specimen will look to get his international career back on track in 2021 but will first have to compete for playing time with fellow Austin signings Christian Ostberg, Sebastian de Chaves, and Isaac Ross.
