Americas Rankings – November 29, 2020

The Americas Rankings is an exclusive on Americas Rugby News. It ranks the men’s test team from throughout the Americas. Matches recognized as caps are used for the rankings. Teams yet to compete since the Americas Rankings began are listed with 30.00 points.

The November 29, 2020 edition considers two matches. First, Argentina vs New Zealand in the Tri Nations. Second, game two of Portugal vs Brazil in Lisbon.

Argentina’s loss was by more than 14 points. As such, Argentina lost the maximum possible number of rankings points. With the match being played at a neutral venue this corresponds to 0.328 points. The updated Americas Rankings thereby have Argentina now ranked on 79.58 points. It corresponds to 8th in the world, a higher placement than Wales who is favored in the RWC 2023 draw despite contemporary rankings.

Brazil’s 33-13 loss in Lisbon sees Portugal gaining maximum points from the exchange. As such Portugal gains and Brazil loses 0.484 points. The updated Americas Rankings do not see change. Like Argentina, Brazil holds its position in the Americas Rankings and also in the World Rankings. Portugal, though is now  up to 20th in the world.
