One more year for Faka’osi Pifeleti with San Diego

Faka’osi Pifeleti has re-signed with the San Diego Legion for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old prop joins incoming Luatangi Li and fellow returnee Nathan Sylvia as loosehead options for the new campaign, with Aaron Mitchell the only tighthead specialist confirmed to date.

Also known as ‘Oti’, Faka’osi is the elder of two US-eligible Pifeleti brothers who have played for San Diego. Younger brother Kapeli is currently playing for Saracens in England after spending the 2019 campaign with the Legion.

Since arriving part-way through the 2018 season Pifeleti has been a regular in the San Diego lineup, rotating with Sylvia at the loosehead position. A minor injury restricted restricted him to playing in three of the Legion’s five games during the shortened 2020 campaign.
