San Diego re-signs Italy lock Joshua Furno

The San Diego Legion have re-signed Italy international Joshua Furno for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. A rangy 6’7″ (2.01m) aerial specialist, he follows fellow second rows Ben Mitchell and Siaosi Mahoni in committing to the club for another season.

Furno has been an automatic selection at lock since arriving just ahead of the 2019 playoffs. The 31-year-old started all five matches during the truncated 2020 season and scored the game-winning try in the brutal home game against Rugby United New York that ultimately ended the campaign.

With three locks of starting quality and hooker duo Dean Muir and Peter Malcolm both confirmed, the Legion will again boast one of the best lineouts in the competition next season. A fearsome back row also beckons with Psalm Wooching, Tevita Tameilau, and Keni Nasoqeqe all returning and joined by former England captain Chris Robshaw.
