Tim O’Malley returns to MLR with Dallas

Former Utah Warriors captain Tim O’Malley will return to Major League Rugby in 2021 but with a new team. The Dallas Jackals have captured the signature of the 26-year-old New Zealander who is set to start for the Tasman Mako in Saturday’s Mitre 10 Cup Semi Final against Bay of Plenty.

O’Malley proved an outstanding competitor for the Warriors in 2019, starting all 16 games and scoring 134 points. He spent most of his time at inside center but is equally comfortable at flyhalf. A stint with the NEC Green Rockets in the Japan Top League saw him split evenly between the two positions.

The Jackals now boast two players of similar ability in O’Malley and ex-Raptors star Robbie Petzer. Among others confirmed in an intriguing backline are former Eagles center Chad London and Fiji Warriors trio Tuidraki Samusamuvodre, John Vasurakuta, and Josateki Degei.
