Pumas with wins over All Blacks, Wallabies, and Springboks

Records were set in Argentina’s win over New Zealand on Saturday. The historic triumph means Los Pumas are now one of seven countries to have beaten the All Blacks. In terms of individual players, 12 Pumas from the match also have test wins over Australia and South Africa.

Matías Alemanno and Guido Petti locked the scrum against New Zealand. The pairing were also involved in the 2018 win over South Africa in Mendoza and the 2018 win over Australia in Gold Coast. They both also played in the 2016 win over South Africa in Salta, and the 2015 win over South Africa in Durban. Alemanno also played in the 2014 win over Australia in Mendoza.

Five players from the first Rugby Championship victory also won against New Zealand. They are Alemanno, Tomás Cubelli, Juan Imhoff, Nicolás Sánchez, and Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro. Cubelli, Imhoff, Tetaz Chaparro joined Alemanno and Petti in the Durban triumph in 2015. Both Pablo Matera and Julián Montoya also featured.

Sánchez missed the 2015 win over South Africa. Juan Martín Hernández played fly half that day. Sánchez was in the side that beat South Africa in Salta in 2016. Also featuring were Cubelli, Matera and Montoya, in addition to Alemanno and Petti.

Involved in the 2018 win over South Africa were aforementioned players Alemanno, Cubelli, Matera, Petti, Sánchez and Tetaz Chaparro. There are four others who defeated New Zealand and also have a win over Australia that featured in the match. They are Gonzalo Bertranou, Bautista Delguy, Marcos Kremer and Santiago Medrano.

Alemanno, Bertranou, Delguy, Kremer, Matera, Medrano, Montoya, Petti, Sánchez, and Tetaz Chaparro all featured in the 2018 win over Australia. Of them Delguy and Kremer were just 21-years-old. The pairing thereby defeated Australia and South Africa aged 21 and New Zealand aged 23.
