Saracens sign rising Canadian star Sophie de Goede

Saracens have confirmed the signing of rising star Sophie de Goede. The 21-year-old No8 is the latest Canadian international to make the jump to the Premier 15s, and one of several expected to join the London-based club in the coming weeks.

de Goede is notably the daughter of two former Canada captains – Hans de Goede and Stephanie White. After graduating through the international age grade system she made her test debut against New Zealand in 2019 and has already established herself as a first choice player for Canada.

A multi-sport athlete who competed in both basketball and rugby at the collegiate level, de Goede was named Queen’s Gaels Female Athlete of the Year in May. She is tipped by many as a player to watch at the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2021.
