Dino Waldren extends NOLA contract through 2023

Dino Waldren has signed a one-year contract extension with the NOLA Gold, securing his place in New Orleans through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The Eagles prop initially signed on a three-year deal in August of last year after departing the San Diego Legion.

Waldren was included in the USA’s extended roster ahead of the World Cup but missed out on final selection. He then directed his focus to the 2020 MLR campaign and was in impressive form when the season was suspended. The 29-year-old started all five games for NOLA, scoring two tries.

Competition for spots at tighthead prop for the Eagles looks to be increasing. World Cup selects Titi Lamositele and Paul Mullen remain favorites, with Waldren joining the likes of Paddy Ryan, Angus MacLellan, and Mason Pedersen as contenders. Hawaiian export Roman Salanoa is currently playing for Munster but has yet to declare his international ambitions.
