Dallas signs Fiji Warriors fullback Josateki Degei

Dallas have added a third Fijian to their backline ahead of the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The Jackals have signed up 23-year-old fullback Josateki Degei from Namosi. He follows countrymen Tuidraki Samusamuvodre and John Vasurakuta to the expansion side.

Degei has followed a similar lineage in his rugby career. He led the Fiji u20 side to an Oceania 7s title in 2017, also featuring in the World Rugby u20 Trophy. Six months later he earned a call-up to the Fiji Warriors squad for the Pacific Challenge, and was again called to the team earlier this year.

Another tall and rangy runner similar to Vasurakuta, Degei is also a capable goal kicker. He joins an outside backs division that also includes young American quartet Levi van Lanen, Conner Mooneyham, Campbell Johnstone, and Ryan James.
