ARN Player of the Week – Marcos Kremer

More COVID difficulties in Europe saw some potential contenders sitting out this weekend but the beginning of the Premier 15s season gave us a few others to consider for the first time. In all there was a reasonable spread of contenders. There should be significantly more this coming weekend as the South American 4 Nations kicks off.

Among those who showed will in France were Canadian internationals Evan Olmstead and Shane O’Leary. The former had a strong game in the Biarritz second row as they pushed to the top of the Pro D2 table, while the latter kicked 8 points as Rouen came from behind to beat Charente on the road. Of the six North Americans playing in the Premier 15s broadcast opener, USA captain Kate Zackary stood out in Exeter’s back row despite the loss to Gloucester-Hartpury.

Our selection as ARN Player of the Week is new Stade Français enforcer Marcos Kremer. The Pumas flanker was also recognized as Top 14 Player of the Week by Midi Olympique. Kremer has already stamped his authority in France with some punishing defense, and it was Agen and especially Tongan hooker Paula Ngauamo on the receiving end of his fury on Saturday.
