Free Jacks re-sign loose forward Evan Geist

Loose forward Evan Giest has re-signed with the The New England Free Jacks for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old made two appearances as a replacement during the shortened 2020 campaign, his first as a professional.

Used exclusively as a flanker in 2020, Geist is capable of playing across the back row. The Denver native played Division 1A collegiate rugby for Colorado State and has suited up for the Denver Barbarians and Mystic River in senior club rugby. He also spent time with Meralomas in the BC Premier League before joining the Free Jacks.

Geist’s return makes it six back row specialists confirmed by New England for 2021. Five are newcomers – including Junior All-American flankers Justin Johnson and Jack Miller, Tongan international Jack Ram, former Sharks captain Tera Mtembu, and Bay of Plenty openside Joe Johnston.
